We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence then, is not an act, but a habit. — Aristotle
Do something good is not so hard, but to make a good habit is very hard.
Write on your blog is not hard, but write on your blog everyday is very hard. Wake up early is not hard, but wake up early everyday is very difficult. Take an exercise is not hard, but exercising everyday is very hard. And so on.
I just wondering, what is needed to make a good habit? After I observe some people having good habit for a while, I realise that making a good habit need a lot of sacrifice. Imagine for a blog writer who writes everyday, how much time he spent for grasping the idea? How many activities or event did he miss for his habit?
For a good habit, we have to devote a lot of time to make it works. We sometimes have to adjust our daily schedule to make it happen. Yeah, it is hard but it‘s worth it for a good habit we really want.
So if you are committed to make a good habit, be prepared to make a lot of sacrifice. There is no silver bullet here, sacrifice is a necessity. The words from The Prestige may conclude what I want to say in here:
Borden: Simple, maybe. But not easy. … Sacrifice, Robert- that’s the price of a good trick.
